Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has revealed her reason for supporting comedienne Princess during the Baba Ijesha alleged rape case. The moviestar recently shared that she had to voice out because she was also molested in the past.
Speaking to The Nation, Iyabo said that she was molested severally by different men, and her personal experience ended up influencing her reaction to the Baba Ijesha rape case.
According to her, while she tried to control her emotions when the news broke, she was so outraged by the situation that she eventually had to speak out for her fellow victim.
“I really didn’t control my emotions then because I was outraged by what happened. I think it’s because I was also coming from that part, where I had gone through whatever she went through multiple times… and I just felt like enough is enough,” she said.

The filmmaker disclosed that the way some adults twisted the narrative to attack both Princess and the victim was absolutely shocking.
Iyabo believes the reaction and turnaround proved how far Nigeria still has to go to protect children from all kinds of abuse.
She concluded by saying celebrities are also evangelists; therefore, they must always practise what they preach.
“You’ll notice when I kick, I kick when my fellow entertainers do wrong, because I feel like we are supposed to do right by our people. We are also evangelists… we cannot be preaching and doing the same bad thing that we’re telling people is wrong,” she added.
