Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri has ordered security commanders to ensure the safe and unharmed release of Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, a High Court Judge who was abducted by armed men in Yenagoa. He recently gave the directive during his ongoing local government thank-you tour in Sagbama Local Government Area.
Condemning the abduction strongly, Governor Diri warned the criminals in the state and their sponsors to get ready to pay for their many crimes in Bayelsa.
According to him, there would be no hiding place for the perpetrators of such crimes henceforth, particularly with the state’s investment in efficient security infrastructure like closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
He stated that he was recently informed of the high-profile kidnapping, and security commanders have been charged with the responsibility of ensuring the judge is brought back alive and in good health.

“From the moment I was informed about the high-profile kidnapping of a judge of the state high court, I summoned security commanders and gave them a directive to ensure the judge is released alive and in good health,” he said.
He further noted that the criminals still have the opportunity to give up their terrorizing acts before they are caught.
He concluded by saying that the installed CCTV cameras captured footage of the kidnapping incident, and an investigation is ongoing to fish out those involved.
“Let me tell those involved or sponsoring such criminal acts — it is time to give up. You cannot terrorise and intimidate your own people. Government has invested so much in the security sector, and the installed CCTV cameras captured footage of the incident,” he added.
