The Osun State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sunday Bisi, has said that the defection of members of the party to the All Progressives Congress will not stop Governor Ademola Adeleke from winning his re-election in 2026. He recently shared that the defections are nothing but a storm in a teacup.
Speaking during an interview with PUNCH, Bisi revealed that almost all sectors of society is in support of Adeleke’s second-term bid, therefore the defections will make no difference.
He stated that the majority of the people in Osun State are currently backing Governor Adeleke, and he expects them to come out in their numbers to express their support with their votes next year.
He maintained that the movement of the Delta State Governor and the entire PDP structure in Delta to the APC is the type of defection that can alter the expected result ahead of the election, not the mini one currently experienced in Osun.
“The defections are not a serious matter; they are a storm in a teacup. If you talk about defection, you can reference the movement of the Delta State governor and the entire PDP structure in that state to the APC.
I acknowledge that as a real defection. The defections in Osun cannot affect us in any way,” he said.

He further noted that Governor Adeleke has done well with his infrastructure and social programmes for the people, stressing that his good governance is why the state will reward him with a second term.
Bisi concluded by saying that Osun State people are known for rewarding excellence with loyalty, therefore, the people will appreciate Adeleke by re-electing him in 2026.
“Adeleke is doing well in terms of infrastructure and social programmes for the people of the state. He has been delivering good governance, and people will appreciate him for that by re-electing him in 2026,” he added.
