Almost 10 years after Kim Kardashian was tied up and robbed at gunpoint in Paris, 8 people have been found guilty in connection with the heist, even though none of them will be returning to prison. The tragic incident, which happened during Paris Fashion Week in 2016, saw the reality TV star lose more than $9 million worth of jewellery, including a $4 million engagement ring.
At the time, Kim Kardashian was gagged, zip-tied, and locked in a bathroom at a luxury residence, and she has since said that it was the most terrifying experience of her entire life.
The Daily Mail is now reporting that the convicted group, dubbed the “Grandpa Robbers” by French media due to their ages (many in their 60s and 70s), got sentences ranging from 3 to 8 years. However, most of their sentences have been suspended due to age and health issues.

While the court acknowledged the emotional damage done to Kim, it said that sending the culprits back to jail would be ethically wrong because of their life-threatening sicknesses, which include cancer and parkinson’s.
Only 2 out of the 10 placed on trial actually admitted to being guilty. The alleged mastermind, 69-year-old Aomar Aït Khedache, was sentenced to 8 years. However, with time served and suspension, he will not be seeing more jail time.
Kim Kardashian, who did not attend the hearing on Friday, has confirmed that she has increased her security and reduced how often she posts in real time since the incident.
“While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability,” she said.
