Ayorinde AdeBello, a pastor suspended by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has strongly refuted allegations of homosexuality. His suspension, along with that of another pastor, was confirmed in an RCCG memo dated October 28, 2024.
The memo, signed by the national overseer, Sunday Akande, ordered an in-depth investigation into the accusations and temporarily relieved the accused pastors of their duties.
Akande reiterated RCCG’s stance on morality, noting the church’s zero tolerance for any conduct it considers incompatible with biblical values.
Addressing the allegations publicly for the first time, AdeBello took to Instagram, declaring, “I never engaged in sodomy with male teenagers.” He stated that his initial silence was based on advice to avoid drawing attention to the accusations; however, he felt compelled to speak out after it was misconstrued as an admission of guilt.

AdeBello clarified that a widely circulated WhatsApp screenshot had been taken out of context. According to him, the conversation in question was part of a male teenagers’ group focused on male reproductive health and self-esteem.
“In recent days, allegations surfaced on a social media blog called Gist Lover,” AdeBello’s statement read. “I initially refrained from responding, as others were named, likely to increase engagement on the platform. But as these accusations have escalated, I feel it is necessary to address them directly.”
AdeBello firmly denied ever requesting sexual favors from anyone, stating, “I have NEVER demanded sex from any male as a condition for providing assistance, opportunities, or positions. Only God determines platforms and success.”
The pastor explained that the WhatsApp group in question was used to educate teenage boys on health and hygiene, discussing topics such as the proper choice of underwear, personal hygiene, and maintaining self-esteem. “It’s disheartening that the messages from this group have been manipulated to misrepresent me,” AdeBello stated.
This ongoing investigation by RCCG aims to bring clarity to the situation and verify the claims made against him. AdeBello maintains his innocence, expressing hope that his words will prevent further misunderstandings and allow him to clear his name.
