Martins Otse, known online as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has formally petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, demanding a thorough investigation into an alleged assault by Abia State lawmaker Alex Ikwechegh on an Uber driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, in Abuja.
In a petition signed by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, VDM accuses the House of Representatives member for Aba North and South Federal Constituency of Abia State of abuse of power, physical assault, attempted murder, and issuing threats. The incident reportedly occurred when Abuwatseya requested Ikwechegh to pick up a delivery at his residence. In response, Ikwechegh allegedly threatened violence, detention, and further harm against the driver.
Captured in a video that has circulated widely on social media, the lawmaker is allegedly heard issuing threats, saying, “Do you know who I am? … I can make you disappear in Nigeria and nothing will happen,” and threatening to detain the driver in his generator house.

In response to the video, Ikwechegh was questioned by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command and detained at Maitama’s divisional headquarters. VDM’s petition appeals to the IGP to address this alleged case of power abuse, stressing the importance of accountability and justice.
