American pastor Israel Ford has opened up about how his first wife accepted his decision to marry another woman, following widespread attention over his recent introduction of his second wife to his church congregation.
Titiansloaded reports that Ford explained that his first wife was comfortable with the possibility of him developing feelings for another woman, adding that he ensured she was fully comfortable with the arrangement before proceeding with the marriage.
According to the pastor, his relationship with Shakayla gradually developed through her continued presence and support in their household, particularly during periods when his first wife was unwell.

He said Shakayla regularly assisted with domestic responsibilities, including preparing meals, cleaning and caring for his first wife, a development that eventually influenced his feelings towards her.
Ford disclosed that the three of them sought spiritual guidance through prayer and fasting before making the decision to formalise their relationship.
He explained that they embarked on a 40-day fast, during which he and Shakayla reportedly experienced dreams on the same night, which he interpreted as divine confirmation of their decision.
“My wife is different from other women. She doesn’t mind that I look at other women,” Ford said.
He further explained how Shakayla’s involvement in their lives gradually developed into an emotional connection.
“All three of us prayed and fasted about it. We agreed to do a 40-day fast, and in the middle of the fast, God spoke to me and Shakayla. We had a dream on the exact same night. The crazy part was He spoke to us and didn’t speak to her (first wife),” he stated.
The pastor also revealed that his growing affection for Shakayla eventually led him to tell his first wife that he could not imagine her leaving their family.

Addressing the decision to publicly acknowledge his second marriage, Ford said he wanted his personal life to reflect the values he communicates through his preaching.
He maintained that openness and accountability were important to him, arguing that religious leaders should be willing to live by the principles they teach their followers.
“I came out for two reasons. I believe that if you do something, you preach something, you should live it. I believe that transparency is everything. I know that I can’t help people if I’m not being an example,” he said.
Ford’s explanation comes amid public discussions following his introduction of Shakayla as his second wife, an announcement that attracted considerable attention on social media.
