A 15-year-old female student from Anglican Grammar School, Arigidi Akoko, in Ondo State, has been remanded at the Ondo State Juvenile Home in Akure. The order was issued by Chief Magistrate Olateju Odenusi-Fadeyi on Wednesday, as the teenager faces charges related to the alleged murder of her 17-year-old classmate, Habib Salau.
The defendant, an SS3 student, is charged with conspiracy and murder following the October 3 incident. According to Police Prosecutor Josephine Awana, the accused, along with an unidentified accomplice, allegedly conspired to murder Salau. The altercation reportedly occurred around 3:30 p.m. in Imo, Arigidi Akoko.
Awana informed the court that the defendant had a prior misunderstanding with Salau, which escalated when he reportedly confronted her on her way home. During the fight, the defendant allegedly claimed that someone handed her a knife and instructed her to stab Salau, resulting in his death.

The case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, according to Commissioner of Police Abayomi Oladipo.
The charges against the defendant violate Sections 124 and 319(1) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ondo State, 2006. The court has ordered the teenager’s remand pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
